Moonlight plays an important role in the lives of aquatic creatures. Fish, invertebrates, and photosynthetic corals are all intimately bound to the natural lunar cycles. By recreating lunar luminescence in aquariums you may not only benefit the tanks inhabitants, but add aesthetic value to the aquarium. Our modular moonlights are a good addition to any aquarium, including reef, saltwater and freshwater systems.
We offer a full line of Moontube Moonlighting products from simple systems with no dimming ability to advanced systems with multiple automatic settings. All systems (Moon Computer, Moon Controller, and Basic Moontube) come with one Moontube Moonlight and a power supply. For larger systems, additional Moontubes can be purchased separately. Moontube Moonlights Overview
Our new line of Moontube Moonlights (v3) are the next step in moonlighting technology. We use three high-power LEDs to create the best looking moonlight effect on the market. By using fewer, brighter LEDs, our moonlights create subtle yet beautiful shimmer lines. Our ultra wide-angle LEDs (120 degrees) maximize coverage allowing fewer lights to be used for each installation. The LEDs operate at 468nm creating a deep and beautiful blue color that brings out the fluorescence of some fish and corals. While great for reef tank setups, our moonlights are also used extensively on fish-only and freshwater tanks. We have seen some beautiful results on planted tanks as well. Our v3 Moontubes are fully modular allowing instant upgradability and infinite setup options. Each Moontube has an external, latching connector that is used to attach additional lights to create a chain of up to 10 lights. The Moontubes themselves are fully sealed preventing moisture from damaging the LED circuitry even in the harshest environments, though they should not be operated underwater indefinitely (voids the warranty).
Our Moontubes can be easily mounted in existing canopies using the included brackets. The lights can be mounted on any surface whether horizontal, vertical, or angled allowing for a perfect fit in tight hoods and canopies. Simply attach the including brackets to any surface parallel to the water and pivot the light to create the desired effect. Basic Moontube System
Our most economical choice, the Basic Moontube Moonlight System consists of one Moontube Moonlight that connects directly to an inlcuded power supply. The basic system does not have any dimming control, but you can plug the power supply into a timer for on/off timing (timers sold elsewhere). Like our other systems, up to nine additional Moontubes can be added to this system for larger aquarium setups.

The Moon Controller is a microcontroller based dimmer for Moontube Moonlights. It automatically varies the intensity of the connected moonlights over a 29.5 day period (the lunar month) to mimic the natural progression of the moon. The Moon Controller System comes with one Moontube, the Moon Controller, and a power supply (a Euro power supply option available). Up to nine additional Moontubes can be added to this system for larger setups.

More powerful and feature rich than our standard Moon Controller, the Moon Computer offers multiple automatic settings with timer functions, full moonlight dimming control, and a built in real time clock, all in an attractive and compact package. Do not look directly into the moonlight. High power LEDs create intense light which may damage your eye sight.

When mounting the light, keep in mind that it is made of plastic, and WILL melt if placed tooclose to a metal halide or high intensity florescent bulb.

Also, while water resistant, these lights should NOT be submerged for long periods.
